Eclectic Collection Number 1 – 1989 Kahn’s Eric Davis

The Player
As I mentioned in the last post, Eric Davis is the essence of the fan favorite. He could hit for power, was a wonderful fielder and a dynamic base stealer. Sadly, injuries caught up with him and he did not have the career everyone would have though of when this card was made. He finished with 1430 hits, 282 home runs, 349 stolen bases and a .269 batting average.

The Set
This set this card represents is also quintessential of this collection. It is from the 1989 Kahn’s set. This set only features Cincinnati Reds. I remember these being giveaways at Reds games. The red border looks so cool with the red and white Reds uniforms and the green of the turf.

The Back
The back has a small portrait shot along with major and minor league stats. I consider it to be on par if not better than other sets at that time period.
