Eclectic Collection Number 15 – 1988 Rite Aid Team MVPs Alan Trammell

The Player

From 1977 to 1996 Alan Trammell was the face of the Detroit Tigers. He was a dynamic fielder and a strong hitter and along with Lou Whitaker, they were the anchor of the Tigers infield. He was a six time all star and four time gold glove winner at shortstop and the MVP of the 1984 World Series. He finished his career with a .285 batting average, 185 home runs and 1003 RBI. He is the embodiment of fan favorite and may be in the Hall of Fame one day.

The Set

This is part of the 1988 Rite Aid Team MVPs.  They included the MVP or best player of each team in the set and sold the set as a whole at Rite Aid drug stores. The players go from legends (Cal Ripken, Jr) to obscure players (Mike Dunne??). It was made in conjunction with Topps and is a classic junk wax era set.

The Back

The back of this card is blue, very blue.
