Stan the Man

I woke up this morning to find out about the passing of Cardinals legend Stan Musial. I kinda knew he did not have much time, but its still kind of a shock when it actually happens. I was just telling my wife about my favorite Stan Musial stories. My favorite is the one about a reporter asking why he was always smiling during spring training. He replied, “You would be smiling too if you knew you would he hitting .340 before the season even starts.” There was also the time a team sent a scout to scout the Cardinals. Musial got five hits, one down the left field line, down the left field gap, right up the middle, down the right field gap and down the left field line.  He was also a gentleman of the highest order as shown by the plaque dedicated to him in St Louis: “Here stands baseball’s perfect warrior. Here stands baseball’s perfect knight.”
