A Basketball Card

While I have a collection of basketball cards, I don’t necessarily “collect” basketball cards. I was looking through a box of cards at a flea market and found this card for a dime.

This is a 1978 Topps Dennis Johnson rookie card. I recognized the name from the famous Larry Bird steal during the NBA Finals, but did not know much else about him. Check out this resume: (from Wikipedia)

  • 3× NBA champion (1979, 1984, 1986)
  • Finals MVP (1979)
  • 5× NBA All-Star (1979–1982, 1985)
  • All-NBA First Team (1981)
  • All-NBA Second Team (1980)
  • 6× NBA All-Defensive First Team (1979–1983,1987)
  • 3× NBA All-Defensive Second Team (1984–1986)
  • #3 Retired by the Boston Celtics

All of this lead to DJ being elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010. Sadly, he passed away in 2007.
