When someone of Nelson Mandela’s age passes away, I reflect on the changes that have been able to witness in their lifetime. The interesting thing about President Mandela is he was the genesis of a lot of the change he was able to witness. A lot of that has to do with the fact that when he was released from prison, instead of being angry and bitter, he loved and forgave those who imprisoned him. One simple choice changed his nation for generations to come. This made me think. What will be the fruits of our stewardship of this planet for our great grandchildren? Will they be love and forgiveness or hate and bitterness? If I am given another 60 years I might get to find out. My sincere hope is that we all find ways to change things so our great grandchildren can look at our generation and know we did what we could to make their world better.
